oh boy

I know, I know, I haven’t posted in a looooong time!!! I have been extremelt busy you have no idea. With cross country, TONS of schoolwork, and the various clubs I’m in I barely have time for knitting anymore.  Which sucks, because Christmas is coming very very soon.  The good news is, I have finished a few projects and started a few more, which I will take pictures of and show you as soon as I find new batteries for my camera.  Well, that’s all for now!

swap

Hey readers! Gosh I haven’t been on for a while.  I’ve been so busy with classes lately that I haven’t had time to blog.  Anyways, I joined this awesome Day of the Dead swap on Ravelry (for those who don’t know, ravelry is this great online knitting/crocheting/needlework community.  You should definitely join).  I won’t tell you what I’ve put in my partner’s swap package, but I will post pics after I sent it.  Trust me, it will be awesome and I hope she likes it.  And I can’t wait till I get my package.  I have also started a bat shawl from theanticraft.com.  It is so awesome, and I had hoped to get it done by Halloween, but I’m not sure that’s going to happen.  I will post pics as soon as I replace my camera batteries.  So yeah…just wanted to let you all know that I haven’t disappeared for good, I’ve just been super busy.  I will try my hardest to begin blogging again.  =D

It’s hot

It’s hot, and I am miserable.  Sorry I haven’t posted in awhile, I just started school. I shall tell you a bit about my classes.  My first class is US History with Mr. O.  He’s really cool, and I love how he puts history in a way that we can understand it, not like the boring, stuffy history books we have.  Plus, he sells muffins, water, Gatorade, and those Starbucks frappaccino bottles.  His class is really fun.  My next class is Honors Anatomy/Physiology.  Also a fun class, and Mr. C is really cool as well.  He is trying to get my extremely quiet class to talk and participate in class discussion.  We are encouraged to just speak without raising our hands.  In fact, most of my teachers encourage us to do that, a first for me.  My third class is Algebra 2/Trigonometry.  I don’t like math, I never have, and my teacher Ms. L is nice, but she’s kind of spazzy.  My last class is Honors English.  I really like this class. We’re reading so many interesting books, and my teacher Ms. M is really nice.  She reminds me of my friend Liz because she loves English and she is also controlling in a good way. Like, she has to have papers a certain way and such.  We are reading about the colonial period with books such as Scarlet Letter and The Crucible. This is one of my favorite periods in history, so I’m really excited.  So that’s how my classes are for Fall term.  I am a bit worried about my favorite teacher, Mr. B.  He was my chemistry teacher last year and we’ve become good friends. I tell him pretty much everything.  Well, today he looked a little tired, and he was helping a bunch of kids from AP Chem.  He finally had something to eat for lunch, a first in the whole week.  I told him to come sit down and relax a bit, and he did.  He told me he was worried about teaching AP Chem because it was so much work, but I know he can do it.  He’s an awesome teacher, and last year when I told people I had him for chem they told me I was so lucky, and I believe them.  I just have to watch out for him and make sure he doesn’t wear himself out (its my protective nature. Not many people know this about me, but I am extremely protective of loved ones.  I always want to take care of people, you know?). Anyway, I’m sure he’ll be fine. For now, I’ll try to keep up with my school work and knit when I can, though that’s been a little difficult to do this week.

Pictures

Today will be a long post! With pictures! Yay! Ok, to get started, I’ll show you some pictures of Hawaii, the Big Island, to be exact.  I didn’t take many, because my camera died and I didn’t bring extra batteries (smart, right?).

The ground is covered in hardened lava. Really cool. This path lead down to  a black sand beach.

Isn’t that beautiful?

This is some of the hardened lava.  I thought it looked really cool.

This is a picture of molten lava flowing into the ocean, creating this plume of steam.

These are the Rainbow Falls. Gorgeous.

This is a close-up view.

I know this picture is really big, but I absolutely loved this tree. It was enormous, and one of the most beautiful trees I have ever seen.

That’s all I have for Hawaii. Now we’ll talk about one of my favorite subjects: yarn!

What do you get when you take this (Cascade Yarns Sierra color 36 lot 0660):

And mix it with this ( Cascade Yarns Sierra color 19 lot 6825):

Plus a whole box of this (Classic Elite Newport):

You get a really beautiful afghan.  I am planning on making the Family Circle Easy Afghans Windowpane Warmth Afghan.  It is so gorgeous, I can’t wait to get started. Oh, and I made these:

Lace-Up Opera Gloves. The link to the pattern is on the side bar there. I think they came out really well, and they’re super quick to knit. Took me only about a day and a half to make. Here’s a close-up of one of them:

That’s it for now. I’m so happy I finally got around to making a decent post. See ya later!

Promises

I am very bad at keeping promises apparantly.  I said I would post something on Sunday. It is now Monday. But at least I have a good excuse.  I was going to post so much more this summer, but I had to: read two books and write papers on them for Honors Anatomy (I read The Body Farm and Dark Remedy) , read The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and write journal entries on it for Honors English, take notes on chemistry, biochemistry, and biology for review for Honors Anatomy, and now I just found out last night that we has an AP US History assignment, which involves me writing a very good essay and memorize all 50 states, their most populous cities, and major lakes, rivers, and mountain ranges.  Because a lot of people signed up for AP US History, they will decide who gets to take it by reading the essays. So yes…major stress for me, and school hasn’t even started yet. Four more days…I have been kinda sorta working on my holiday knitting. I’m almost done with a cable scarf that will be a present for somebody.  On a happier note, I am very excited. Wanna know why? Cuz I get my braces off tomorrow! I am so excited it’s not even funny. I swear, braces are pure torture. I can’t believe I’m getting them off…wow. After having them for two years…I should take a before and after pic! I need to find my camera first, though.

I’m sorry, I’m sorry!

I know, I know, I know, I’m really sorry.  I have been sorely neglecting the blog. It’s just that I’ve been so busy! I got a job, which I’m pretty happy about since my yarn budget will now be a little bigger (most is going into savings for college, a new laptop since my screen is cracked on this one but still works thank gods, and a car). I’m a gymnastics instructor for little kids, which is pretty fun. Hawaii was awesome, I had a lot of fun, though I was a ready to come home by the tenth day.  I missed my own bed and pillow and my friends.  I’ll get pictures up maybe tomorrow, but definitely Sunday, and I’ll tell you all about it.  I’ve been working on holidayknitting.  So far I’ve done a sweater, a purse for my mom, and I am working on a white cable scarf for my friend, and I have tons of knitty plans for the rest of my friends and family.  Hopefully I’ll get everything done on time this year.  Anyways, I’ve also been following the Olympics of course.  I’ve been waiting for Track and Field to start, since that’s the sport I care about most.  I decided not to join the Knitting Olympics this year.  I just haven’t had the time.  In two years I will definitely do the Winter Knitting Olympics, though.  That’s all for now.  Hopefully I can be on tomorrow.  I also have a paper to write on The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn for Honors English, and I just finished two papers for Honors Anatomy/Physiology.  And I need to take notes on Biochemistry, Chemistry, and Biology, too.  So much to do before school starts in a week.  Oh, and guess what? I get my braces off on the 21st!  I’m so excited the waiting is almost unbearable.  So anyways, hopefully I’ll see you all tomorrow.

hawaii

Hey readers. I know, I know, I haven’t posted in a really long time.  I am very sorry. Things have been pretty busy around here. Anyway, I wanted to let you know that I won’t be here for another 10 days, because my family and I are going to Hawaii! On the bright side, I will have loads of awesome pics to show you when I get back.  I hope you all are having a nice summer so far. Anyways, must get back to packing. I still have to decide what knitting to bring on the plane. Bye!

marathon

Hello, readers. I just got home from doing a 10k marathon. I am exhausted. I don’t have any pictures, because I didn’t want to carry my camera around while I was running. My friend Erik went with me, and my mom and sister did the 5k marathon. It was so awesome. Erik and I didn’t stop running once-we just kept going, even up and down the steep hills. The run was held by the hospital my mom works at, and the money raised benefits the trauma center.  I’ll have a better post tomorrow, as I have been doing tons if knitting. Can’t wait to show you.

don’t touch

I had a nice post planned. I was going to show you the start of a mystery Christmas gift, and now I can’t. Want to know why? Because people have no respect for my stuff, that’s why. I have rechargeable batteries for my camera, so when one set of batteries dies, I can grab the other pair from the charger and put the dead batteries in the charger to be ready for the next time I need them. Well, today my camera died, and I go to grab my second pair of batteries, and They. Aren’t. There. Apparrently my brother has taken them and used them for his Wii and they are dead so now I have to wait for both pair of batteries to charge before I can use them. So…No good post today, sorry. Just me ranting. One of my biggest pet peeves is people taking my things without asking. It happens all the time, and it’s getting a little old. I can’t touch anyone else’s stuff, but they seem to feel they can take mine. Do I have to put my name and a disclaimer: don’t touch, on all my things? Honestly. *breathes* Ok, my rant is over. Sorry about that. It’s just…I hate when people take my things!

Fishnets

I have finally finished the fishnet stockings I promised my friend Andrea, and they look awesome. I promised her these in March or April, and with Track practice and then that huge portfolio and finals, I sort of lost track of them. I am now making the hot pink ones for myself. I have one done,  I just need to do the other. Then we’re gonna rock ‘em during Cross Country practice. Our coach already thinks we’re crazy (not that we don’t take Cross Country seriously. We do, we just have our own style, and everyone pretty much knows that).

Ta da! Not bad, if I do say so myself, though the pattern is a bit repetitive. It was a little boring after awhile, but I love how it came out (yes, I’m sitting on the floor. That’s where the best lighting was).

This is totally random, but check out this picture. I took it while driving through a tunnel (well, I wasn’t driving, obviously, I was in the passenger seat). Isn’t cool in a weird way?
